Solar Panels - Things to Know
Article Contributed by HWL Ebsworth Lawyers

Now more than ever before, Bodies Corporate and Lot Owners are considering solar panels. This is largely due to rising electricity prices and cost-of-living pressures. Deciding whether to purchase and install solar panels can be difficult for standalone homeowners. For Bodies Corporate and their Lot Owners, the decision is even more complicated due to the operation and effect of Queensland legislation, especially following recent amendments made to the Building Act 1975.

This article will look at the main things Bodies Corporate and Lot Owners need to know if they are considering solar panels.
Community Education Seminars – Lawyer Panellist Introduced!
Article Contributed by Smart Strata

Electric vehicles are gaining popularity - and with it comes a new set of obligations for bodies corporate that must be addressed head-on! How do we identify and manage the risks associated with Electric Vehicles and associated infrastructure? What are our obligations to approve owners’ requests to install chargers? What about fire and workplace health and safety obligations and risk assessments specific to Electric Vehicles in Strata building? Importantly, bodies corporate must act reasonably when considering owner requests and, if past decisions have disadvantaged other owners once capacity has been reached, how must we address it, and will this be at the body corporate’s cost? Get prepared for the EV revolution and learn about your body corporate obligations.

This week we are eager to announce our first expert Lawyer panellist who will speak at our upcoming education seminars we are hosting across Queensland. Future legal requirements for bodies corporate adopting EV’s and the known legal requirements associated including managing risks and how can they be mitigated are key areas to be discussed.
